Minimize grass area. Replace e.g. with decking, decorative stone / gravel. Create lawns that are easy to maintain.
Use large platners and create self-watering systems to prevent the plants from drying.
Use hardy shrubs, evergreens & perennial bulbs / perennials that do not need to be replaced. Mulch reduces the need for watering & weeding.
Choose plants with different textures & colors for year-round effect. Ex round glossy leaves next to finely textured grasses. The right plant in the right place.
Evergreen climbing plants make you get more out of your space.
Use retaining walls made of maintenance-free Corten to quickly shape your garden. Large raised beds add life & are easy to maintain.
Use maintenance-free furniture made of e.g. steel that can be left outside all year round.
A well-designed garden has a balance between:
Soft landscaping; everything that lives such as flowers, grass, bushes & trees.
Hard landscaping; hard but movable parts of the garden such as Pergola, fountain, retaining wall, planter, garden bridge, fence, garden art, barbecue area, pavers, outdoor kitchen, decking & driveways.
If you are interested in building a fountain like on the image, the planter should be at least 30 cm deep so that there is always water for the pump. It must not go dry.
We suggest these pumps for our planters, which you can customize yourself. You need one pump per bubble place.
Consider the full grown size of the plant when choosing planter size. You don’t want to buy outdoor planters that are too small and will need to be replaced as the tree or shrub grows.
Second, measure the size of the root ball. The plant’s roots will need room to spread out, so make sure you choose a planter large enough to accommodate them. About 3 times larger planter than root ball is a good size.
Galvanized steel consists of steel that has been coated with a thin layer of zinc by applying electric shocks to cause zinc to adhere to the surface of the steel. This surface protects against rust. However, this surface makes it somewhat more difficult to get paint to stick. In order for the paint to stick, the final product is heat-treated before painting.
Stainless steel contains iron mixed with at least 10.5% chromium. There are 5 different variants of stainless steel where the amount of chromium is decisive for which kind of stainless steel being referred to. Depending on the desired properties, other substances are also added in addition to chromium such as nickel. This is to reduce the risk of rust and add other properties to improve the steel’s area of use in some respect.
Corten is a steel mixture containing copper, chromium, manganese and nickel. This mixture prevents steel from corroding when used outdoors. This since the surface layer of rust that forms during changing weather conditions becomes self-protective for the steel. The rusting process decreases in strength when it has acquired a nice rusty surface that prevents the steel from corroding.
Corten (COR-TEN) is an alloy steel, which means that several metals are fused together to make them better in some way. What distinguishes Corten steel from ordinary steel with rust is its content of copper, chromium, manganese and nickel. This composition makes it a relatively expensive but durable material that is maintenance-free.
If you get rust stains on glass, it is easily removed with the help of ordinary toothpaste and a dish sponge. Polish with rotating movements until all the rust is dissolved and then rinse.
If you have a stone surface, you can sprinkle baking powder, pour some water on it and let it stand and the rust will dissolve. If you want to clean wood, you can use oxalic acid to remove rust.
For really dark spots of rust on glass or stone, you can sprinkle oxalic acid, pour a little water. Leave on for up to 2 days before rinsing.
