Modern pergola, iron fences & metal privacy screens – can be illuminated
Unique maintenance-free steel walls as modern pergola, iron fence, modern room dividers or metal privacy screens. Available with different graphic patterns and are a whopping 1.1 meters wide. That is the same width as our large planters. They are made of 3 mm thick maintenance-free Corten.
Install a laser-cut 3 mm thick Corten panel on any surface. It works wonders for your garden if you want to create an eye-catching focal point as with a modern pergola. Other options are metal privacy screens, iron fences or as modern room dividers. Let your plants wind around this steel wall as a trellis to our planters, Trendsetter.
These unique steel walls are suitable for private use as well as in public environments such as offices and restaurants to create modern room dividers or privacy protection. These art works, designed in Sweden, can be used both indoors and outdoors.
We try to ensure the steel walls have a rusty finish when we deliver to you. There are ways to speed up the process. You can mix a little ordinary table salt with water (about 2-4 tablespoons / liter of water). Spray on the mixture using a regular flower sprayer. Leave overnight and then wash off with clean water a few times to remove the salt residue. The more times you soak the steel and let it dry, the faster you get a nicely rusted surface.
Option 1) Steel wall / modern pergola / iron fence with upper U-profile for recessed led lighting
You create an exciting and elegant lighting scene if you illuminate your panels. Through the pattern of the panels, a beautiful light is spreads where Corten is very expressive. It emits a mica, colors and creates atmosphere even in winter.
The curved version of the steel wall / modern pergola is bent at 90 degrees twice on the upper short side and thus create a U-profile. The post fit under the curved upper edge to protect it from rain. There is a small distance between the post and the lower part of the curved upper edge so you can easily install a hidden led strip. To completely hide the cable assembly, you run the cable through one of the posts.
We have welded 3.5 x 3.5 cm square pipes in Corten on these steel walls to create an exclusive, modern and minimalist look. Thus, there are no visible screw holes or led strips as it is hidden with this option. For further information, see our inspiration video that shows metal privacy screen / modern pergola / modern room dividers when illuminated.
Optional LED lighting for our steel walls, iron fences & modern pergola
We offer a product-adapted dimmable LED lighting kit as an option for our screens from Xcen. This kit has a power of 460 lumens (5 watts) which provides a comfortable light outdoors. As the Corten itself has a brown tone, color reprocessing will as such be perceived in the warmer direction. Therefore, we have chosen 3000K as the default option. This model has a protective silicone shell that gives IP class 68 and is completely waterproof. The model has a 5-year warranty and should last 50,000 hours.
If you want, you can control your lighting via an app in your mobile by, for example, buying a Plejd. Then you can set your lighting so it follows the sunset, dim down and turn your lighting on and off at a certain time.
The easiest way is to spot-glue the led strip at approx. 20 cm intervals with an epoxy glue.
Option 2) Panel with holes for installation in any post
There are also flat panels without a U-profile that have holes along the sides for those who prefer to use own type of post. Use this for modern pergola, iron fence, steel wall, trellis or modern room dividers. The high panels have 4 holes along the long sides which are 6.5 mm and the low screens have 3 holes instead. You install the panels either horizontally or vertically as shown in the picture to the left below.
Size of our metal walls / iron fences
Our panels are 110 cm x 105 cm or 110 x 175 cm. The panels that have welded Corten posts with an upper U-profile for LED lighting are a total of 110 cm or 180 cm high, including posts. The picture to the right shows the distance of 8 mm that exists between the square tube and the curved upper edge. Where you can easily run and hide a led strip. Very beautiful for a modern pergola without a roof or a iron fence around your patio.

How to build a modern pergola with a roof using our steel walls
If you want to build a modern pergola with a roof, this works great with our panels that have holes. These are wider than others on the market which gives a stylish impression. To mount these panels, you should dig a big hole. That to get down to frost-free level (about 80-100 cm deep). You can either cast it yourself or set up ready-made pole shoes. Put macadam in the bottom of the hole as a drainage to prevent frost heaving.
You can either build pillars for our modern pergola yourself or buy ready-made. Best is to use pressure-treated wood. The strongest variant you often find at your hardware stores is 95×95 mm. However, you can easily make your own pillars by adding two dimensions together. If you add two 45×145 mm joists together with two 45×45, you get, for example, a 135×145 mm pillar.
The basic rule is that the dimensions of the pillars must harmonize with the beams to give an aesthetically pleasing impression. Just make sure your anchor it and use dimensions suitable for the columns you create.
You tie the pillars and beams together and attach your panels to them. However, make sure you tie the whole structure well together. You need to add ribs above and between the pillars and beams to do so. When the wooden construction is ready, you easily mount your screens for your pergola to the structure.
